The Canik TP9 MOD2: A Budget-Friendly Powerhouse

CANIK TP9 MOD2

The Canik TP9 MOD2: A Budget-Friendly Powerhouse

The Canik TP9 MOD2 is a 4.5-inch duty/full-size firearm that punches well above its weight. With a remarkably affordable price tag, it boasts features typically found in guns that cost twice as much. Today, we’ll dive into what makes the Canik TP9 MOD2 is a choice for both everyday carry and competitive shooting.

Features and Specifications

One of the most intriguing aspects of the TP9 MOD2 is its unique decocking mechanism built into the slide. While this feature might seem unconventional, it adds an extra layer of safety and versatility. The pistol is equipped with a U-notch rear sight and a white dot front sight, providing a clear and easy-to-acquire sight picture. Interchangeable backstraps allow for a customizable grip, and the texture of the grip itself is decent, offering a solid hold during use.

Thanks to its well-thought-out design and comprehensive feature set, the TP9 MOD2 is an ideal candidate for IDPA SSP/ESP or USPSA Production divisions.

Parts compatible with tp9

Compatibility and Aftermarket Support

One of the significant advantages of the Canik TP9 MOD2 is its compatibility with the existing TP9 platform. This means that magwells, backstraps, base pads, and trigger components are all interchangeable. Most springs, including the extractor spring, can be easily swapped out. Canik even offers a 90-degree trigger, similar to those found in rival pistols, for shooters who prefer a flat-faced trigger. While there are a few aftermarket options available, the support for the TP9 platform makes it easier to find upgrades and replacements.

Holster Availability

One minor drawback is the limited availability of holsters for the TP9 MOD2. Despite being on the market for a while, finding the right holster can be challenging. it does come with a OWB paddle holster i guess you would call it. Currently, you’re mostly limited to manufacturers like We The People, Black Scorpion Gear, and possibly some sellers on Etsy. However, we’ve tested holsters from these companies and found them to be reliable and effective for shooting matches. Every day carry or like a holster for security gaurd who selects this gun might be more challenging find.

Performance and Trigger

Our particular TP9 MOD2 came out of the box with an impressive 4lb 10oz trigger pull, which was a pleasant surprise. While not all TP9 MOD2s may have such a light trigger, this shows the potential for quality straight from the factory. In comparison, we’ve seen TP9SFX models with trigger pulls closer to 6lbs.

Final Thoughts

Having spent considerable time behind various Canik models while developing parts for them, we’ve come to appreciate their feature-rich platforms. With a bit of tender loving care, the TP9 MOD2 can become a range favorite. Whether you love them or hate them, Canik pistols offer an impressive blend of affordability, functionality, and customization options that make them a compelling choice for both new and experienced shooters.

SAVAGE 110 ELITE PRECISION 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Savage 110 elite precision 6.5cm

The first thing I would like to lead this off with is that we purchased this gear ourselves, which wasn’t given to us. It wasn’t loaned to us. We spent real USD to get it.

Review: Savage Elite Precision 110 in 6.5 Creedmoor

If you’re on the hunt for a rifle that combines precision, versatility, and power, look no further than the Savage Elite Precision 110 in 6.5 Creedmoor. This rifle is designed to offer top-tier performance straight out of the box, making it a favorite among both novice and experienced shooters. Let’s dive into the key features and our firsthand experience with this impressive firearm.

Built-in ACRA Rail and M-LOK Attachment Points

One of the standout features of the Savage Elite Precision 110 is its built-in ACRA rail, providing a stable and consistent mounting platform for optics and other accessories. Coupled with numerous M-LOK attachment points, this rifle offers unparalleled customization options. The M-LOK and ACRA RAIL system ensures a secure and flexible attachment, whether adding a bipod, a sling, or other tactical gear.

Trigger Performance

Out of the box, we measured the trigger pull weight at an impressive 23 ounces (1 lb 7 oz) using a Wheeler gauge. This light and crisp trigger is ideal for precision shooting, allowing for minimal effort and maximum control. Savage’s attention to trigger quality ensures consistent and reliable shots every time. Aftermarket triggers are available for a sub-16 oz pull, but that can be a little overwhelming for most people who are getting an entry-level PRS rifle.

Optics Setup

We opted for the budget-friendly Presidio 5-30×56 LR2 Rifle Scope FFP, mounted using a Riton one-piece mount. This combination proved to be both practical and economical. During our sighting-in process, we followed a shot-clean procedure for the first ten rounds, which helped ensure the barrel’s longevity and accuracy. The rifle was on paper immediately, indicating that the scope and the rifle were extremely close to mechanical zero, requiring only about 6 inches of elevation correction.

Ammo Performance

We tested three types of ammunition:

  • Seller & Bellot 142gr Precision Rifle
  • Norma Golden Target 130gr
  • Norma Whitetail 140gr

All performed admirably, especially considering this was a brand-new rifle. The Seller & Bellot 142gr ammo stood out for its accuracy, while the Norma Whitetail 140gr showcased its effectiveness in hunting scenarios. We successfully harvested a button buck at 64 yards with the Norma Whitetail, and it also impressed us by making a NICE CRATER on a Kodiak truck flywheel at 115 yards used as a target.

Overall Experience

With the rifle itself weighing just over 12 lbs, and our entire setup coming in at just under 15 lbs, this loadout is both manageable and robust. Notably, this setup is a sub $3,000 entry into the precision rifle world, including the scope and mount. For the price point, the Savage Elite Precision 110 performs extremely well, making it an accessible option for those looking to dive into precision shooting without breaking the bank.

Additionally, the rifle comes with what seems to be a pretty efficient compensator. While we didn’t perform any slow-motion or paper tests to assess its efficiency with different ammo, that might be another blog post!

Conclusion

The Savage Elite Precision 110 in 6.5 Creedmoor is a standout choice for anyone looking to enhance their shooting experience. Its built-in ACRA rail and M-LOK attachment points offer extensive customization options, while the light trigger pull ensures precise and controlled shooting. Our optic setup with the Presidio 5-30×56 LR2 Rifle Scope FFP and Riton mount proved to be a solid, budget-friendly combination. With excellent performance across different types of ammunition, this rifle is versatile enough for both target shooting and hunting.

WE HAVE PLANS TO TEST THIS RIFLE AT 600yds & 1000yds

The Savage Elite Precision 110 is a versatile, high-performance rifle that delivers on its promises. Whether you’re looking to compete or hunt, this rifle is well-equipped to handle the task. Happy shooting! 🏆🔫
